Butaro Hospital has a National Cancer Center of Excellence which has a singular focus on conquering cancer and improving the way that cancer care is delivered throughout Rwanda, East Africa and the rest of Africa. Through three cancer treatment modalities we have afforded at our center [Surgery, Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy], our team (doctors/specialists/nurse) works together as one team to offer the most advanced treatments with the compassion and care that makes all the difference.

Oncologist, Internists, paediatricians and general surgeon have extensive experience in cancer diagnosis and the management of drugs for early and advanced cancers that affect different parts of human body.

With pathologists, Butaro hospital lab can do different exams to diagnose through anatomicopathology (eg: biopsy analysis) and histopathology.  

Butaro Cancer Center of Excellence (BCCOE) has also an ambulatory cancer care program which gives daily chemotherapy and do the follow up for the cancer survivors. BCCOE has another wing for Women Early Cancer Detection (WCED) program which provides teachings and screening mostly on Breast and Cervical Cancer that come the top at Butaro Hospital.

Social support, Survivorship and Palliative care programs are added important care BCCOE gives to cancer patients.
