Neonatology department

Neonatology service at Butaro Hospital is an IPD (In Patient Department) service designed for caring a new born. A paediatrician works with General Practitioners and nurses to take care of the neonates.

Our Neonatology gives the following:

• Patient care management and orientation;
• Parent education session on behaviour change regarding to diseases prevention; patient right and responsibilities;
• Consultation of the new born ;
• Curative cares  of the new born;
• Kangaroo mother care;
• Re-evaluation and Follow-up of patients in ward round tour.
• Laboratory order for illness investigation;
• Radiology order for illness investigation;
• Drugs order and administration;
• Appointment of follow-up of the new born after being discharged in neonatology;
• Transfer to referral hospitals for more investigation.
