Visitors

A visitor is defined as someone who is coming to the hospital to check or see a patient or any other person coming for administrative purpose.

Hospital's Visitors

Purpose:

To ensure that all visitors receive welcome when entering the hospital premise, are oriented appropriately and are safe while on hospital premise.

Policy Statements: 

  • The hospital shall ensure that visitors are received, oriented and safe while on hospital premise.
  • The hospital shall ensure that Customer Care Officer or Public Relations Officer are easily accessible by visitors and able to receive them appropriately.
  • The hospital ensures the Security Officers are oriented and trained on visitors’ orientation.
  • Visitors shall abide by all hospital rules and regulations while on the hospital premise.

Procedures:

  1. Public Relations Officer avails and posts signs (internal and external) to orient visitors.
  2. Public Relations Officer determines and posts working hours, patients’ visiting hours and rules and regulations throughout the hospital at entrances and in the different hospital departments.
  3. The Hospital Security Officer welcomes, checks, documents required information in books and orients visitors to Customer Care Officer or Public Relations Officer if necessary.
  4. Customer Care Officer or Public Relations Officer provides orientation and badges to visitors.
  5. Visitors commit to respect the healthcare providers while taking care of patients in wards.
  6. Only two persons are allowed to visit a patient at once.
  7. No visitor shall be allowed to sit on the bed of a patient or eat inside the patient wards.
  8. Visits should only happen during hospital visiting hours and visitors should always wear a badge while on the hospital premise.
  9. For visitors who want to see the patients in isolation rooms, he/she should always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) before entering the room and refer to the Patient Isolation Police and Procedure. These rooms include TB and Neonatology Department, among others.
  10. Visitors should respect hand washing and decontamination standards.
  11. Visitors should always give badges back when leaving the hospital and register in visitors’ book the time they leave the hospital.
  • Visiting hours in clinical areas: every day
    • 6:00 am to 07:00 am
    • 12:00pm to 01:00 pm
    • 05:00 pm to 08:00 pm
  • Visiting hours for administrative purpose: From Monday to Friday, open days.
    • 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
